TSPLOST 2021

On November 2, 2021, Sandy Springs voters approved a five-year TSPLOST extension to fund transportation projects throughout Sandy Springs. The TSPLOST referendum extends the existing 0.75% (3/4 of a cent) sales tax approved by voters in November 2016. The sales tax collection period will run April 1, 2022 through March 31, 2027.

The TSPLOST 2021 Renewal will fund:

  • Sidewalks
  • Traffic Safety and Congestion Relief
  • Road Maintenance and Paving
  • Multi-Use Paths
  • Pedestrian and Bike Improvements

TSPLOST projects have been developed with a tiered revenue structure. Tier 2 and Tier 3 projects will proceed only if TSPLOST revenues exceed revenue projections.

TSPLOST City Council Update 6/20/2023

TSPLOST BACKGROUND

On November 8, 2016, Fulton County voters, including residents of Sandy Springs, approved the Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (TSPLOST), a referendum to fund transportation improvements within the participating cities. In Sandy Springs, TSPLOST passed with 56.7 percent of the vote.

The collection of the 0.75 percent (3/4 of a cent) sales tax began in April 2017 to fund the T-SPLOST transportation projects.

Who pays the 0.75 percent tax?  The sales tax will be paid by anyone - residents, visitors, businesses and tourists - who buy taxable products or services inside Fulton County, outside City of Atlanta limits.

Where will the money be spent?  The TSPLOST dollars are allocated to projects identified and approved by the City Council as part of the TSPLOST initiative.
